Celebrating Love and Friendship: Susanna and Kash

In the heart of Phoenix, Arizona, against the breathtaking backdrop of Camelback Mountain, Susanna and Kash begin their journey of love and friendship. Their October 2023 Royal Palms Resort wedding is one of my favorites as a wedding photographer here in Phoenix.

For Susanna and Kash, their wedding day is a reflection of their deep and abiding love, as well as the cherished friendships that have shaped their lives together. From the joyful first look with Susanna’s brothers and father to the sweet moment when she twirls in her gown for Kash, every detail of the day is infused with smiles and laughter. With all the weddings I have captured, I don’t know if I have ever experienced such joy on a wedding day.

Creating Connections

I first speak with Susanna after an introduction from her planner Sandy with In Awe Weddings. The Royal Palms hotel is an absolute favorite of mine and a venue I have been dreaming of capturing. During our call we share our love for the lush gardens and natural beauty. We bond over being both girly-girls and loving to get active and a little sweaty! As a young bride I know the wedding process can be overwhelming. It’s all in the details

Kelly Ott Martin brings Susanna’s vision to life with her gorgeous neutral toned displays. The bouquets are inspired by the color palette of the resort itself with pops of jewel tones. Abundant florals frame the ceremony and reception tables exactly how Susanna had imagined. Personalized touches can be found throughout the day. They include cocktail napkins featuring the couple’s cats and emotional personal vows. Susanna’s gown reminds me of a modern version of my own wedding gown. It’s a white Maggie Sotero satin ballgown with a pleated bust and….POCKETS. Who doesn’t love pockets in a dress?! They keep it classic with black tuxes by Celebrity Tux and Tails for the guys and floor length neutral and jewel toned gowns by Azazie for the girls.

Party Time!

As the sun dips below the horizon, casting a warm, golden glow over the lush garden of the Royal Palms Hotel, guests gather to dine under the October night sky. Surrounded by the fragrant orange grove and bathed in the soft flicker of candlelight, they enjoy an evening of candlelight and wine. It’s a scene straight out of a fairy tale. As the reception begins, Susanna surprises guests by changing into a short white dress and heart glasses. They are ushered into a ballroom to dance with glowsticks and customized cocktails.

Final Thoughts

Nothing brings me more joy than being a part of the wedding of friends. The foundation Susanna and Kash have built with one another is one of deep respect and love. They share in adventure and support of one another. As someone who married their best friend, I can confidently say these two will enjoy a life filled with joy and mutual respect.
