Recently, Click Magazine held their Best Photographer Awards competition where photographers from all over the world had the chance to submit their best images in many different categories. I was encouraged by a friend to submit. The natural self-doubt set in as I selected my best wedding images from 2023. But this is the year of taking chances. So I submitted my best and waited. As a Phoenix wedding photographer I know I am up against some fierce talent in my community. Being selected as one of the Top Ten Wedding Photographers to hire right now is an absolute honor.

To my surprise, I placed in the top of the Engagement Photograph category. Looking through the list I am amazed at how many of my images are chosen among the thousands of submissions. The winning image is one of my favorites from my Engagement Session with an incredible couple named Susanna and Kash. I had complete creative freedom and could think of nowhere else I wanted to showcase than Downtown Phoenix.

I love the intimate passion amongst the business and movement of the Phoenix downtown area. It’s like watching a slow motion still of two people forgetting the world around them for a moment. I am honored to have been able to capture their wedding just a few short months later. Many of those images are also featured and earned me numerous Honorable Mentions.

The winning images are a small selection of details and portraits from two different Phoenix weddings I photographed. They are striking, capturing the beauty of both harsh shadows and soft light. Had I let the fear of failure and self-doubt prevail, I might never know the joy of seeing my work alongside some of the top photographers in my field. I am encouraged and determined now to become the best wedding photographer in Phoenix.
